Douro Valley
Full Day Trip
The Douro Valley is without a doubt one of the most spectacular places in the world. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Douro Valley is a must see for anyone traveling to Portugal. This area became the first delimited and regulated World Wine Region in the world back in 1756 and has an area of around 250 000 hectares with wine yards that are centuries old.
Along the banks of the Douro River, there is a vast wine region where the famous and unique Port wine is produced. It is produced and stored in impressive cellars that are managed by “Quintas” that are hundreds of years old. The Rabelo boats, indigenous to the region and linked to the port wine trade, maintain the tradition and continue to navigate its calm waters between the picturesque vineyards.
