The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima is Portugal's leading pilgrimage destination, receiving 6-8 million visitors every year. The town of Fátima has become important to Catholics around the world because of apparitions of the Virgin Mary reported by three shepherd children (Lúcia, Francisco and Jacinta) from May 13 until October 13 of 1917.
Óbidos is a town that was once the wedding present to a Queen, the preserved medieval town of Óbidos lying 80 km north of Lisbon is without doubt one of Portugal's most interesting walled settlements. This town brings out wonders as you discover it while walking through its hidden corners and high walled gardens. You can appreciate the old medina area, the gothic and the Renaissance and baroque architecture.
Nazaré is a fishing village located in the north of Portugal. This village is known for having the largest waves in the world, it is a magical place with waves that can be as big as 25 meters or more, which explains why the current Guinness World Record for the largest wave ever surfed is in Nazaré. Besides the waves, it has views that will leave you speechless, as well as a strong fishing culture and golden beaches making it a place you can’t miss in Portugal.
